The Weather Outside Is Frightful
Yay! I'm off work for a few days! Boo, the weather is dreary! That didn't stop us from going out for a walk (Craigos' most favourite past time). We went to Chapel Market in Angel and I had a look in the cute little boutiques selling furniture and vintage clothes.
If you can see the objects in the busy picture above, it's a shop selling interesting albeit expensive curiosites. It belongs to an eccentric old lady who also runs the shop. It was packed full of junk like stuffed eagles and ducks, loads of fur coats and hats and plates, jugs, books - absolutely everything!
From Angel we walked to the Barbican and stopped off at the Barbican Centre's Foodhall for a coffee and muffin.
There was a Christmas shop in the Barbican centre, I want this limited edition Eley Kishimoto beer glass (below). It's £12.00, affordable, but I want 4 or ideally 6. Yikes!
Black & White
I've always liked the black & white victorian tiles you see in the entrances of victorian houses, I decided this was the pattern I have on our floor in the miniscule hallway even if it would have to be vinyl. Ideally I would have liked the pattern smaller but anyway I think it works:
Here's an example of the tiles I speak of and also the route I take to and from work, Rugby Street, full of quaint boutiques:
Kitchen

UPDATE! 4/04/11
Spot the difference again:
When we painted it green, there was never something quite right about it - it was too green and when the horrible fluro kitchen light was on it had this strange hue that reflected on the cabinets. Sooo, after several months of much talk about painting it another colour, we decided on a grey shade (Dulux - Steel Symphony No.4). Craigos peered into someone's flat one evening (one of his favourite past times hehe), admiring their greyish blue kitchen from afar, he came home raving on about how good it looked, which made me jealous and prompted me to say "Grey? GREY? Are you mad, it's depressing and cold!" Fast forward to spring and look what we have, a greyish kitchen. I like it. I was saying last night, in a few months it'll probably be all white.
Tea
It was Craigos' burfday (10 days ago), I put a free coffee loyalty card in his birthday card for a laugh. Oh I'm so funny. It was his day so we did what he wanted. He doesn't like to make a fuss. We went for a walk in the city (his favourite thing to do). It was oh so christmassy. We passed the newly refurbished Savoy....
We went to the new Bea's of Bloomsbury at Cheapside to use the loyalty card for a free coffee and had a couple of cupcakes.
Look at the delightful teapot lights. Wow. Later, after further walking and leg ache, we ended up in Nando's (his choice!) - you can't go wrong! Well actually you can. The thing about Nando's is, sometimes they seat you wedged right in between 2 couples, so you can't have any privacy. This unfortunately was the case. Apart from that, it was an enjoyable day. Oh yes indeed.
Snow way!

Wood Carpet
So there is something out there that could be called 'wood carpet' - wood effect vinyl! Yes vinyl! Totally forgot about this wondrous material that was big in the 80's. Didn't even cross my mind to lay vinyl on our floors. I mean c'mon, vinyl? Cheap yeah? Well no, not really. Actually quite pricy, but luckily we bought it when it was on special offer. So, here is what it looks like....
Realistic, no? This picture was taken before the bedroom was finished. I say finished, actually it's not. Still need a dressing table and other bedroom bits, but that can wait. Totally skint, I've been spending money on housewares and stuff. I'm more concerned about the best type of saucepan to buy than clothes. I can't believe it I'm more Elle Home than Elle Fashion these days.
Oh hello by the way! It's been a long long while and I don't know if I'm writing to myself or if anyone reads this? If so, hello!
