WASTE!
Would you believe this bin outside Marks & Spencer was full of perfectly good edible food?! Ok it was a day over the expiry date but I know for a fact that if you eat food that's a day over, it's definitely not going to taste bad or make you ill. Actually the pears expiry date was today. If my Mum was with me she would've stuffed her handbag with as much pears and sandwiches she could fit and would probably shove the rest in her pockets and mine. When I was a kid struggling to finish my dinner she would always remind me of the starving children in Ethiopia and that I was lucky to have a plate full of food. This is one bin, but can you imagine the endless tons of food Marks & Spencers throw away each day?
Coffee Poo
I had been stuck at home since Friday evening, feeling under the weather and a bit sorry for myself. Today I managed to get ready to go out. Thinking we were only going for a short walk, I left the flat with just my camera and phone. We ended up walking to the Barbican and stopped by the Museum Of London to check out the London Street Photography exhibtion, but as it was the first opening weekend it was so busy they had to close it early. Was nice to have a browse around the shop though.
Afterwards we went to The Barbican Centre, which I love for it's sixties interior. We had Monmouth coffee from the Foodhall and sat in the foyer. People come here to chill with their laptops or just to sit and people-watch because it's so peaceful and cosy. For me the coffee was OK, but if you want to know what my partner thought... Well take look at the last photo.
Oh dear....
I was keen to head home as it was already dark, after the long walk to the Barbican I was looking forward to getting on the tube - then Craigos reminded me that I didn't bring my travel pass aaaaaargh! So we walked back home. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though, we took the short cut and was home in 25 minutes.
